To transform movement into lifelong wellbeing by empowering underserved youth, families, artists and communities through culturally responsive movement, creative expression, mentorship and dynamic, innovative arts-based wellness experiences.
We cultivate resilience, belonging, leadership and healthy communities by integrating movement, mindfulness, technology and artistic collaboration into accessible pathways for personal and collective growth.
A world where movement is a universal language of wellbeing that connects people, strengthens communities, and inspires generations of creative leaders and changemakers .
Every person deserves access to movement that heals, creativity that empowers, and community that transforms.
ViZion Dance, Inc. was established in 2016 to provide more equitable opportunities for exposure and access to the field of dance and the Performing Arts in underserved Metro Atlanta communities. The organization is also committed to promoting entrepreneurship and building a foundation for the individual artistic growth of dancers and choreographers desiring a professional career in the art form. The community based organization is made up of a staff and board of talented musicians, creative artists, motivational speakers and health educators who are determined to make a positive impact on the community through original dance, music, visual art and health/fitness initiatives.
ViZion Dance, Inc. is also dedicated to the development of individual purpose in talented artists and the global community through the promotion of self-esteem, non-violence and positive mental and physical health, while using the Arts as a visual stimulator.
In an ongoing commitment to provide professional and artist development opportunities and resources, the organization developed their SPARK (INSPIRE. EMPOWER. IGNITE.) Artist Empowerment Program. The organization also partnered with Spelman College Department of Dance and Choreography during their "Inside the Dancer's Studio" series, "The Business of Dance: Building and Preserving Legacies" forum in which ViZion leaders served as panelists and organizers.
Established in 2016, in collaboration with the Dunham Institute, the ongoing community initiative, "A Day of Respect" honors "unsung" luminaries in the field of Education, Law, Medicine, Entertainment and Arts & Culture in the local and national communities through workshops, panel discussions, and an awards gala which includes acknowledgement of awardee achievements by local community leaders and special performing arts tributes by community artists.
ViZion Dance, Inc.’s ongoing social change project, "New Legacy USA Educational Tour", involves artists’ interactions and dialogues with civil rights and performance arts icons. These educational trips also include visiting historic sites, artist cultural exchange opportunities as well as forums and interviews that they can use to gather and process information that can be used to help facilitate their creativity and civic engagement (done in collaboration with the SPARK program).
In addition, through their youth programming housed at Rockwell Dance Academy, ViZion Dance, Inc. provides mentally, physically and/or financially disadvantaged children and adults the opportunity to dance with a purpose and to enhance the quality of life of others with a mindset of equity and inclusion. They are wholly committed to helping today’s youth (and adults) to lead healthy lifestyles (physically and mentally), thereby inspiring themselves, and others, to live purpose-driven lives through their experiences and creative talents. This commitment to community is demonstrated through their annual Hip Hop Arts Conference.
As a culturally diverse dance and dramatic arts institution, ViZion Dance, Inc. also prides itself on being an emissary of African-American history and culture by using their gifts to enable the audience to experience history through the African-American vernacular. Moreover, they help edify the empowerment of women and youth in their local, national and international communities.
Through the tutelage of an incredible advisory team and Board of Directors consisting of Emmy and Peabody award-winning artists that have composed music and performed with Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and others, as well as those that have worked with some of the greatest choreographers and civil rights footsoldiers in history, ViZion continues to impact the world with its unique and creative, yet inspirational programming as they "Change The World, One STEP At A Time"!
