  • Sababu Chaka Barashango is an Educator, African percussionist, classically trained singer, third degree black belt martial artist, and entrepreneur. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and French from Morehouse College and a master of arts in teaching degree in Educational Studies from Emory University. He brings almost 30 years of experience teaching in various Georgia and Delaware school systems.
  • Barashango was named Teacher of the Year twice in his school district. He also helped write the curriculum for the computer science principles course in the district and served as the chairperson of the school improvement and program advisory committees. As a performing artist and native Philadelphian, he trained extensively at the New Freedom Theatre and won the title Mr. AfricaAmerica in the inaugural pageant in 1991 (was awarded a scholarship and trip to Africa). He is also a highly regarded African percussionist (playing since the age of 3). Sababu currently serves as a Computer Science Instructional Specialist for the Constellations Center of Education in Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA and is CEO and mentor for ViZion Dance, Inc.
